Afghanistan

With perhaps the best will in the world the country has drifted into another Afghan war. The objective could not be more noble; to rid the country of the Taliban and to bring about a democratic revolution.

This EDM, which will be retabled when parliament returns on Wednesday, calls for the Government to spell out in debate what our objectives now are and over what timescale they can be realistically accomplished.

Given the importance of what is going on in Afghanistan this EDM demands that the Prime Minister opens such a debate so that MPs can cross question him as he spells out the reasons for staying and the reasons for pulling out.
